In 1369 Margareth of Male married the Duke of Burgundy Philip the Bold. At the death of Louis of Male in1384, they inherited the County of Flanders. From then on the House of Burgundy would prevail over our regions.

John the Fearless

and Margaret of Bavaria

The son of Philip the Bold and Margaret of Male was John the Fearless. He was married to Margareta of Bavaria, from the House of Hainaut. By this marriage the subsequent union of all the regions of our country was prepared.
